We Have a Plan – Now What?

Monday, December 8, 2014

10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon

508 Rider Building

Speakers: Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry, Chancellor, Penn State Altoona; Amr Salah Elnashai, Dean, College of Engineering; and Gregory A. Scott, Assistant Vice President for Finance and Business

Moderator: Michael J. Dooris, Executive Director, Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment

Penn State’s 48 strategic planning units were asked to submit strategic plans for the 2014-15/2018-19 period by July 2014. A process to review and provide feedback on those documents has been under way during fall 2014, in parallel with University-level planning. In the meantime, unit leaders and stakeholders are looking for ways to build on the opportunities, and address the challenges, identified in their respective plans.

Strategic planning is not a goal in itself. Producing a plan should be a step in, not the end of, a thoughtful, systematic, and ongoing process of leading and supporting change. In this session, the panelists will speak to the important and practical question of what to do after a plan is written, in order to optimize the likelihood of productive and positive impact as the plan is implemented.

To register for this session, call the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment at 814-863-8721 or email [email protected]. Penn State campuses interested in participating via videoconference should contact the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment. There is no fee, and the sessions are open to all Penn State students, faculty, and staff members.
